Some car launches happen in conference halls. Others happen on mountain tops.
The world premiere of the new Škoda Peaq took place at one of the most spectacular venues I've ever experienced: Mont Salève, often called Geneva's Balcony. Perched high above Lake Geneva with panoramic views stretching to the Mont Blanc massif, it was the perfect backdrop for a car designed to encourage exploration. And getting there was part of the adventure.
Instead of taking the cable car like most of the 400 guests, I joined a cycling peloton of around 20 riders for the 14-kilometre climb with nearly 700 metres of elevation. Even better, we were joined by four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome, making the ride feel like something straight out of a cycling dream.
We climbed the winding roads behind a camouflaged Škoda Peaq, which acted as our lead vehicle all the way to the summit. The route itself was stunning, and knowing that parts of these roads have featured in Tour de France stages made the experience even more special.
Reaching the top just as the sun began to soften over Geneva was unforgettable. Moments later, the camouflage came off and the new Škoda Peaq made its official debut.
Seeing the car in person was impressive. The Peaq is remarkably spacious, with clever features and a clean, modern design that makes it feel much larger than you'd expect. It feels purpose-built for families, road trips and everyday adventures alike.
As launches go, this one was hard to beat. A challenging but enjoyable climb, incredible scenery, riding alongside Chris Froome, and finishing with the reveal of an impressive new electric SUV on top of a mountain overlooking Geneva.
